The daughter of Lewis Frederick and Sarah/Sadie (Aird) Stainbrook. Her mother died on 12 February 1899 and Charlotte and her brother Forrest Arthur/10 September 1895 went to live with their paternal aunt, Charlotte Wood (Stainbrook) Fuller's family in Brockville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. In 1900 their paternal grandmother, a widow, Agnes Belle (Hulings) Stainbrook is also in the household. The whereabouts of the children's father is not known.

In her father's death notice in 1939 she is named Charlotte Poland. The Poland identity and relationship is not known.

Charlotte married William Earl Cotter on 31 January 1907 in Lake County, Indiana with whom she had a daughter, Brownie born October 1907. In the 1910 census Charlotte aka Lottie is enumerated in Oak Park, Cook Co., Illinois with her husband and daughter. The couple divorced at a time and place that has not been determined.

Married a second time to Hiram Owen Wilson. Unable to locate her again until her death in California 1982.

Charlotte inherited the Stainbrook "long lives" gene as she was 95 years old at the time of her death. She is buried close to her second husband, Hiram in an unmarked grave.
