"A Van Nuys man, his wife and their 11-year-old son were killed yesterday when their automobile collided with a heavy truck and trailer at Sepulveda Blvd. and San Fernando Road."

Carl Leonard Miller, 40, his wife, Juanita Pearl Miller, 35, and their son Jack 11 were killed. Their 16 year-old son Kenneth received minor injuries. and a 15 year old passenger was hospitalized with a skull fracture and a 44 year-old passenger was hospitalized with internal injuries.

Their car collided with a truck-trailer and that driver was not injured nor held.

Pearl's mother came to California to get the 16 year old and make arrangements. Upon returning to Council Bluffs, she was met by her son and told that her husband had died. How horrible to have your daughter, son-in-law, and grandson die in a horrible accident and then to come home to your husband's death. Sadly in 1950 her mother hung herself after being ill for the last year of her life. She was found by a grandson who was living with her.
