FORMER RESIDENT OF HARTSVILLE DIES
Funeral rites were held recently at Los Angeles, Calif, for Harry E Mahaffey, 73, a former resident of the Hartsville community.
Mr Mahaffey was born a mile southeast of Hartsville and attended a district school there. Later he was a student at Hartsville College.
A former teacher in the Bartholomew county schools and a veteran of the Spanish American war, he had a wide experience in the automotive field. He served as manager for the General Motors Company at Indianapolis, Des Moines, Cleveland and Minneapolis. He later became general manager for the Chrysler corporation in New York City. In recent years he had resided at Los Angeles.
Surviving with his widow, Mrs Martha Newsom Mahaffey, are two brothers, Arthur M Mahaffey, of near Columbus, and Curtis S Mahaffey, Lincoln; four sisters, Mrs Nora Davis, Taylorsville, Mrs Charles Cooper; Newbern, Mrs Eva Sidner and Mrs Grace Russell, both of Indianapolis.
