Award-winning Writer, Director. He was best known for his film "Fantastic Planet," the animated fantasy. It was nominated for the Golden Palm at Cannes, and was given a Special Award at that same festival. His other works include writing and directing "Gandahar" and "Time Masters" in addition to a number of shorts. He died of a heart attack at the age of 74.
