Birth Cert 1915-43588 Hennepin Erie Harlan Eugene Faribault Daily News 12/Jul/1951 Funeral services for Harlan Eugene Erie, 36, of Bakersfield, California, were held Saturday, June 30 at the Church of the Recessional. The Rev. Jessie Perrin, former pastor of the Faribault Congregational church, officiated. Burial wasat Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale. Mr. Erie died June 27 at Bakersfield following a heart attack. He had received chest wounds in World War II while serving with the U. S. Marines in the Marshall Islands. Harlan Erie was born in Minneapolis May 12, 1915, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Erie. He lived in Faribault until 1938; in Wichita Falls, Texas, until 1940; in Los Angeles, California, until 1945; and in Bakersfield until the time of his death. Mr. Erie graduated from Faribault high school in 1933. He was discharged from the U. S. Marines in 1945 after three years of service. His marriage to Carmen O`Brien of San Diego, California, took place April 7, 1943. At the time of his death he was sales manager forthe Carnation company in Bakersfield. The deceased was a member of the First English Lutheran church here. He was a member of the American Legion at Bakersfield. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Steven Phillip, 6, and Michael Bryan, 2 1/2; two sisters, Mrs. Milo Mielke (Lavina) of Robbinsdale; and Mrs. Thomas Akin (Verna) of San Diego; three brothers, Earl and Willard of Faribault and Lawrence of Waterville; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Erie of Faribault. Attending the funeral from a distance were Earl, Willard and Lawrence Erie from MInnesota,Mrs. Akin and family from San Diego, and many friends from Bakersfield.
