Mrs. Effie Rosealpha Ferrell, age 86 passed away at a local hospital Saturday afternoon. Rites will be held at the Graves Chapel Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Ferrell was born at Fairburry, Nebraska in 1863. Her dad served in the Civil War, her mother passed away when she was nine years old. When she was fifteen, she went to work as a dishwasher at the Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was married to George Washington Ferrell in 1880 in Colorado Springs. Two boys, Tom and Lew were born while they lived there. They moved to Sturgis, South Dakota in a wagon pulled by oxen, as a part of a wagon train. They next moved to Meade County, South Dakota in the Black Hills where Jess, Charley, Gene, Iris, George and Orlando were born. Mr. Ferrell ran a blacksmith shop there and worked on Norman Dam. They moved to Vale, South Dakota where they homesteaded starting in 1893. In 1929, they came to Broadus, Montana and had resided in Miles City, Montana the last three years. Mr. Ferrell preceded her in death ten years ago.

After some years Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell separated.

Nine boys and one girl were born to this union and surviving also are 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Five sons reside in Miles City, Charles, Eugene, Marcus Allen, George and one son, Tom Ferrell, is in the Veterans Hospital at Fort Harrison. A daughter, Iris Raaen lives at Sturgis, S. D.
