Chas. M. Doane Locomotive Engineer, Died
Charles M. Doane of 1920 Fletcher avenue, passed away Jan. 28 at the Southern Pacific Railroad Hospital in San Francisco. Becoming ill on Jan. 5, Mr. Doane was in the White Memorial Hospital from Jan. 9th through the 25, when he was transferred to San Francisco.
A native of Montana, Mr. Doane had lived in South Pasadena since 1954. He had served as locomotive engineer for the Southern Pacific almost 27 years, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Div. No. 5, also a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve Surface Unit 11-8, of Chavez Ravine.
Surviving Mr. Doane are his wife, Mrs. Eleanore Doane and daughter Judith Doane, both of South Pasadena; a son, James Doane of the U.S. Navy; a brother, Howard E. Doane, of South San Gabriel; a sister, Mrs. Verna Moll on Sonoma; and his gra(n)dmother, Mrs. Josephine Mary Doane, also of Sonoma.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Feb. 1, at 11:30 o'clock at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather, Forest Lawn, Glendale, with the Rev. Albert G. Cohen of Oneonta Congregational Church officiating.
