Collier was a former 20th Century Fox West Coast publicity director. He had been associated with Farnsworth Radio - television pioneers and later with Hudson Motors before joining Ford Motor Company. Collier was married to Jeanne Gore who was a former singer and dancer with Fanchon & Marco. Collier had a heart attack in San Francisco while attend a conference, was returned to Hollywood where he passed away.

Served in WWI from 3 May 1917 to 11 February 1919. Reported for duty at Fort Sheridan, Illinois and was assigned to Battalion E - 42nd Rainbow, 149th F.A. Sailed or foreign duty on 17 October 1917 from Hoboken on the SS President Lincoln. Engagements were in the Baccarat Sector, Champagne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, and Argonne. Returned home 25 February 1919 on the SS. White Star Adriatic and landed in New York on 4 March 1919. He was discharged from Winchester, England at the rank of Corporal.
