Daisy never talked about HOPCRAFT and never told her children they had brothers and sisters.) m2nd: 15 Jun 1914, Santa Ana, Orange, CA John Nicholas “Jack” BRAUN (periodically changed to BROWN as when in the US Navy, 03 Mar 1909 to 1913 on USS California) b. 06 Dec 1887, Minneapolis, Minnesota. d. 16 Jul 1949, Los Angeles County Calif. In 1910 son, Walter George was living in McKittrick, Kern, CA with his mother in a house at 41 Derrick Canyon Road. This was eight days before son, William died. William and Walter Irving Hopcraft are nowhere to be found. Daisy claims she is single and has had one child with one living. She isn’t working and census shows she is living off her “own money”. In the 1920 census, Jack is shown as John M BROWN with Daisy and Walter living at 219 S Wilmington, Compton, California. Jack is shown as a laborer for the county, Daisy as a grader for the walnut association. Jack worked as a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and spent much of his career in the Malibu area working prisoner crews building roads.
