His grandfather was Barzillai Ansley (1811-1852) and his grandmother, Mary Jane Ansley, his grandfather's cousin (1813-1898). They are buried in St. John, New Brunswick, as well as his great grandfather, Daniel. Daniel's father was Ozias Ansley, born 1743 in England, died 1828 in Staten Island, NY. He was an officer in the British army during the American Revolution. He traveled to New Brunswick with his 2nd wife, Charity Whitenait, who died in St. John, but later returned to NY.
