Services for Opal I. GARNER, 71, of Rt. 1, Kewanna, who died at 4 p.m. Friday at Miller's Merry Manor, Peru, were to be at 2 p.m. today at the Kewanna Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron PURKEY officiating. Burial was to be in the I.O.O.F.-Citizens Cemetery, Kewanna. Mrs. Garner was born June 27, 1917 in Kewanna to Alva and Melissa FULLER CRABB. On March 16, 1941 in Kewanna, she married Burdette GARNER, who survives. She was a member of the Kewanna Baptist Church where she was assistant organist, taught Sunday School for 45 years and was past president of the Women's Mission Union. Surviving with the husband are a son, Thomas [GARNER], Kewanna; a daughter, Vicky SCANTLEN, Warsaw; a sister, Ersa SOMMERS, Kewanna; a half-brother, Alva CRABB Jr, Rockville, Md., and six grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded in death. Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Kewanna Baptist Church.
