Mrs. Dorothy Wrigley Offield, 92, daughter of the late William Wrigley Jr., founder of the chewing gum company bearing his name, died Thursday in her home.
Mrs. Offield was a resident of Chicago for 88 years, having come from Philadelphia in 1891 with her parents.
She was a member of the Arts Club and the Woman's Athletic Club of Chicago, a trustee of the Allendale Boys School, and honorary life trustee of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Advisory Council of the Planned Parenthood Association of Chicago. She was the widow of James. R. Offield, a patent and trademark attorney.
Mrs. Offield is survived by a son, Wrigley Offield, of Harbor Point, Mich.; four grandchildren, James. S. Offield, of San Jose, Cal., Paxson H. Offield, of Avalon, Cal; Mrs. Dorsse Crandell, of New York City; and Mrs. Carlisle S. Higholt of Rolling Hills, Cal.; a nephew, William Wrigley, president of the Wrigley Company; and a cousin, Byron E. Wrigley Jr., of Chicago. Her daughter, Mrs. Betty Offield Van Horne, of Pasadena, Cal., died in 1976.
