US Congressman. He served in the United States House of Representatives as a member from Illinois, serving for two years. As an infant, he immigrated with his parents to the United States and settled in Chicago. He engaged in the manufacture of oleomargarine and in banking. In 1881 he was member of the Republican State central committee, member of the executive board of the Cook County central committee and colonel on the staff of Governor Richard Yates, 1900 to 1904. He was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-first Congress and served from November 23, 1909 to March 3, 1911. Unsuccessful as a candidate for reelection, he continued his former business activities in Chicago, until his retirement. He died at his summer home on Delavan Lake, Wisconsin.
