CONOVER - Lura Belle Earnhardt Sigmon, 81, of South Depot Street, Claremont, died Sept. 1, 1995, at Catawba Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health. Born Sept. 21, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Ila Whitney Earnhardt.
A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Claremont, where she was a member of the Women of the Church, she was a member of Happy Hours Garden Club in Claremont and did volunteer work for a number of charitable groups.
A native of Mecklenburg County, she attended Kings Business College in Charlotte and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Long Sigmon; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include a son, Les C. Sigmon of Denver; a daughter, Bonnie Danton of Conover; two brothers, Henderson Earnhardt and Max Earnhardt of Huntersville; and two sisters, Louise Cobb of Charlotte and Mrs. Ken (Sue) Norris of Pageland, S.C.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. David Nelson and Stanley Stiver at 4 p.m. Wednesday at her church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. [Pallbearers were Tim Norris, Dr. Dan Johnson, Joey Cobb, Tom Frazier, Jeff Murray, Jim Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Yount, Paul Massey, Andy Martin, Ken Bolick.] The family will be at Drum Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
