Funeral services for Hans A. Petersen, 88, were held Sunday afternoon from Jones Funeral Home with Rev. O. L. Levorson Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was made in Hartington City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Floyd Olson, Ed Dendinger, Herman Tack, Charles Swan, Elmer Koeppen and Paul Averman.
Hans A., son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Petersen, was born at Fyne, Denmark, February 21, 1859, and died at Hartington, October 29, 1947. He came to America in 1880 and settled near Omaha.
He was married to Miss Anena Rasmussen March 20, 1886, and about 50 years ago they came to Cedar county and settled near Randolph. In recent years they have made their home in Hartington.
He is survived by his wife, Anena; five daughters, Mrs. George (Lille) Walton and Mrs. Kenneth (Grace) Betts, both of Yankton, Mrs. Charles (Etta) Giles and Mrs. Emil (Lena) Beig, both of Hartington, and Mrs. John (Eva) Anderson of San Jose, Calif.; five sons, Milton, Chester, Frank, William and Walter, all of near Los Angeles, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter Katherine who died in infancy; a son Harold, who died in 1918 in service in World War I, and a son Fred who died near Fordyce the same year.
