Samuel George Lake, 82, long-time resident of the Yuba Sutter area, died yesterday in Fremont Hospital following a long illness.

A native of Obed, Ariz., he had lived here since 1923. He was a former teamster and farmer. His home was at 6 Michigan St., Yuba City.

An active member and leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in both Gridley and Yuba City, he served as branch president for seven years.

On Dec. 20 of this year, he and his wife would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanie, of Yuba City; three sons, George of Tracy, Robert of Jackson and Elmo of Manteca; seven daughters, Mrs. John Myers and Mrs. Roy Peters, both of Yuba City, Mrs. Barry Collin and Mrs. Della Evans, both of San Francisco, Mrs. Forsyth Hutchinson of Lincoln, Mrs. Carl Kitts of Grass Valley and Mrs. Wesley Graham of Sacramento; four brothers, William and Willard, both of Salt Lake City, Hiram of Morgan, Utah, and Ammon of Butter Willow, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Jarvis of Mesa, Ariz., and Mrs. Ida Turley of Colonial Juarez, Mexico; 29 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Ullrey Memorial Chapel with burial planned for Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
