Remains Of Mrs. Oliver Macy To Be Sent Here
The remains of the late Mrs. Oliver Carter Macy will be sent to Morrison from her home at Scarborough, N. Y., in the near future. Mrs. Macy passed away Tuesday evening after being ill a short time with pneumonia. She was born in Clyde Township Feb. 23, 1889, the daughter of Wm. Henry Sykes and Edith Turney Sykes.
The family left this community for Chicago when she was a small girl. After the death of her father on Oct. 23, 1904, she made her home for a time with an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sykes at Nevada, Iowa. Later she attended Frances Shimer academy at Mr. Carroll, after which she returned to Chicago to take up a musical career, and which she followed to the time of her marriage.
Relatives in this vicinity are two aunts, Mrs. Henry Cobb and Mrs. Murray Hardy, and two cousins, Duane Turney and Mrs. Zelma Boyd. Of the immediate family she leaves her husband, Oliver Carter Macy of Scarborough, N. Y., her mother, Mrs. Harvey Rowland of Los Angeles, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Burns of Ossining, N. Y., and Mrs. Eugene Scherman of New York City, and two nephews, Sykes and Richard Scherman.
The remains will arrive in Morrison when her mother will be able to come out here and funeral services will the be arranged. Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery. -- The Whiteside Sentinel, 4 Mar 1932, Front pg.
