Harrold James McComas
Born August 20, 1924, in Coshocton, OH. Died August 11, 2007, in Milwaukee, WI.

Beloved husband of Hazelyn, his wife of 58 years; loving father of James (Anne) McComas, Rachel Taknint, David (Richelle) McComas, and Paul McComas; dear grandfather of Daniel, Henry, Random, Joelle, Kendra, Koan, and Orion; and treasured brother of Sally Mueller.

"Mac," as he was known, served in the USAAF (1943-1946) during World War II, stationed in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. He was graduated from the College of Wooster in 1948 and received his JD from Yale Law School in 1951. A partner at Foley and Lardner, he practiced law with great distinction and integrity for 55 years, going back to the days of Miller, Mack and Fairchild.

A lifelong arts enthusiast and supporter (with a fine operatic bass voice), Mac was chairman of the board of the Milwaukee Sympathy Orchestra and a co-founder and early president of the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF). He served as director and trustee of numerous private foundations, and he worked with many charitable organizations on behalf of education, the graphic and performing arts, community services, and religious institutions. He was a member of the Milwaukee Country Club and the University Club, as well as the Sloane Club of London, England.

Mac lived his life with joy and enthusiasm, and he faced every challenge with total commitment and unflagging determination. He was always sure that the glass was "at least half full," and he earned the respect of all who knew him. Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay at 819 E. Silver Spring Drive, on Thursday, August 16 at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Mac's name to UPAF, to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, or to the named scholarship he and Hazelyn established at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. ~ FEERICK FUNERAL HOME Shorewood
