In 1860, the US Census lists Dr. Andrew as living in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, and working as a physician.

Sarah Polk, 79, mother-in-law? b. Virginia

Vig files: he came to Fort Calhoun in 1856, and for 15 years he was the only doctor in Nebraska north of Omaha. In 1880, it is recorded that Dr. Andrew was also a minister and Sunday School Superintendent in Blair.

70 YEARS AGO (AUG. 5, 1886)

Dr. J.P. Andrew, 82, Fort Calhoun physician and pioneer resident of the county, having come here in 1857, died Saturday. His two sons, one a lieutenant in the Civil War who met a battlefield death, had preceded him in death.
