Birth: May 4, 1780
Orange County
New York, USA
Death: Jan. 27, 1857
Kendall County
Illinois, USA

Samuel Jackson was born in 1780, the son of William and Elizabeth (McCoun) Jackson. His parents were Quakers, but Samuel does not seem to have adhered to their beliefs. He married May 20, 1804, to Millicent Seeley (1785-1816), the only child of Josiah and Mary (Seeley) Seeley. They had seven children. Millicent Seeley Jackson died a month after the birth of her last child and was buried in her father's family cemetery In Orange County, NY.

Samuel Jackson does not appear to have lingered long in Orange County after the death of his wife. By 1835, when he was a party to the sale of some land in Orange County, he was a resident of Tompkins County, NY. He continued to push west. He appears to have lived at least for a time with his sister Elizabeth Jackson Townsend and her husband Isaac in Illinois. His death, reported in the Orange County, NY, newspapers, occurred January 27, 1857, in Aux Sable Grove, IL.

Note: There is no stone for Samuel Jackson; however, news accounts of his death indicated that he resided with his sister. Her plot in this cemetery has a base with no stone that may have been intended to mark Samuel's grave.
