FULTON – George R. Tallant, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Daniel Health Care Complex. He was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Lee County to Elijah I. and Vera Edge Tallant. He was a farmer and a shoe repairman. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Billy Adams and Bro. Michael Yielding officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Louise B. Tallant, whom he married Nov. 20, 1938; two grandsons, Matt Glissen and Jacob Glissen, both of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Maylene Cody of Fulton; 16 nieces, 18 nephews, many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Tallant Glissen, on Nov. 25, 2001; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Roy Bennett Jr., Tyson Tallant, Russell Tallant, Troyce Taylor, Leland Taylor and Danny Yielding.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Rushing and Clint Christian.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to service time today at the funeral home.
