Jehoiada was the son of John C and Mary Worth. He was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting as a Private at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, on 25 Sep 1861 at the age of 25 years. He mustered in Co D 4th Iowa Cavalry on 25 Nov 1861. Jehoiada was wounded in action and taken prisoner 20 Sep 1862 near Helena, Arkansas. Exchanged and returned to service 27 Nov 1862. Re-enlisted and re-mustered 12 Dec 1863. Wounded in action 16 Apr 1865 at Columbus, Georgia. Jehoiada mustered out 8 Aug 1865 at Atlanta, Georgia.
Jehoiada's brother, John C Worth, also served with Co D 4th Iowa Cavalry.
Jehoiada married three times and had several children. He lived in Missouri after he was discharged, homesteaded in Nebraska, and in the late 1890s was living in California. In the 1900 Census he was a janitor for the Coronado Public Schools.
Jehoiada was a member of Heintzelman Post No 33 G.A.R. San Diego. He died at the age of 84 years 1 month 15 days.

DEATHS. WORTH - - In this city, June 13, 1920. Jehoiada Worth of Coronado, father of Edward T Worth and John J Worth, Mrs. Frank Szalinske and Mrs. George Koop of San Diego, Mrs. Frank J King of Coronado, and Mrs. Margaret Ballis of Brooklyn, New York. A native of Pennsylvania. Aged 84 years 1 month 15 days. Friends and members of the G.A.R. and Masonic order are invited to attend the funeral services at the chapel of Johnson-Saum company. Fourth and Ash Streets, at 10 o'clock a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) under the auspices of Heintzelman Post No. 33 G.A.R. assisted by Rev. Charles E. Spalding. Interment at Masonic Cemetery.
