Harlan Clark was born on January 27, 1909 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. He was the eldest son of Harry Sanford Clark and Mary Effie Hunt Clark.
His family moved to Carter County, Kentucky in late 1915, and Harlan grew up there. He had five younger brothers.
He married and had one son. He was a coal miner.
Harlan Clark died in Floyd County, Kentucky in July 1962. He is buried near his boyhood home in the East Carter County Memory Gardens, Grayson, Carter County, Kentucky.
In the photograph on the right side of this page, Harlan Clark is the man standing on the left dressed in the light-colored suit.
