Robert "Bob" William Reed, 85, of Ririe, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at his home.
He was born February 16, 1926 in Poplar, Idaho, to William Jennings Reed and Esther Sophia Browning Reed. He was raised and attended schools in Ririe and Antelope Idaho, graduating from Ririe High School. He continued his education at Ricks College, and Utah State University.
He served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1946. On July 12, 1957 he married Phyllis Elaine Parker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple; to this union they added a daughter, and 4 sons.
Bob was a farmer and rancher, known for his sense of humor, hard work, and integrity. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous positions including Bishop and High Councilor. He also served a LDS mission with his wife to the Idaho Falls Temple Visitor Center. After the passing of his wife, he served another mission to the Idaho Falls LDS Church Cannery. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, farming and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Ann Marie (Robert) Frost, of Atlanta Georgia, John Robert (Diane) Reed, Brian Parker (Lisa) Reed, Steven Raymond (Darla) Reed, all of Ririe, David William (Marti) Reed, of Idaho Falls, siblings; Verna Strong, Laurell Croft, both of Idaho Falls, Karma Brinkman of Ammon, Jerry (Connie) Reed, of Ririe; 24 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, and a brother, Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012, at the Ririe Stake Center, 14061 N. 130 E. Ririe, with Bishop Alan Young, conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
