In memory of the 525 men who died when their ships were sunk at the Battle of Leyte Gulf during the liberation of the Philippine Islands on October 25, 1944. The two slab white granite monument is entitled, “Taffy 3” which was the name known for Task Force 77.4.3. It list the names of the men and US Navy ships lost during that WW II Pacific Theater conflict. The memorial was dedicated on October 24, 1996. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
