Benedict was born in Unterramsern,Aetingen,Solothurn,Switzerland to Nicklaus Mollet and Maria Von Balmoos.He married Elizabeth Muehlinman of Batterkinden,Solothurn,Switzerland on 8 Mar 1839.
After a sea voyage of about three months they arrived in New York City only to be robbed of their baggage. They arrived with six children and had the remaning nine in Il.
