Ethel Mae Johnson, 92, of North Irish Street, Greeneville, died Sunday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital while "in the presence of her loving family."

She retired from the Austin Co., Diamond G Outlet and later worked at Greeneville Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Johnson attended Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church as long as her health permitted.

She was the widow of Edgar Johnson.

Her family stated: "She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

"She was well known and loved by everyone. Her home was filled with love and compassion.

"Her knowledge and wisdom will long be remembered by everyone. Her greatest joy was reading her Bible daily and spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.

"She was a lady of strong faith and devotion to her Lord and inspiration to everyone she met. She leaves a legacy of her sweetness of spirit and caring for others whom she always put first. Our loss is Heaven's gain."

Survivors include her "devoted" daughter: Bonnie Johnson, with whom she made her home; her "loving" sons and daughter-in-law: Clarence and Marie Johnson, Gene Johnson, J.B. and Fredna Johnson, and the Rev. Rocky and Janet Johnson; one son-in-law: Gerald Oliver; her special granddaughters and a grandson-in-law: Vickie Johnson of Greenville, S.C., and Nancy and John Hubbard of Columbia, S.C.; her special grandsons and their wives: Isaiah Johnson, whom she helped raise, Kevin Oliver of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mickey Johnson, Tim Johnson, Derrick and Deneyne Johnson, Doug Johnson, Brad Johnson, David and Carrie Johnson, and Jason and Jamie Ricker, all of Greeneville; 11 great-grandchildren; a special sister and her husband: Janice and Harold Waddle; a sister-in-law: Geraldean Aiken; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Medra Renner, Ruth Bible, Norma Cornwell, Mary Self, Dexie Brown, Tommy Armitage, Sam and Lynn Haren, Heather Cox and Michael, Jessica Brobeck, and Matthew Wilkerson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Margie Oliver; a granddaughter: Kristie Johnson; a grandson: Craig Johnson; her parents: W.A. and Florence Aiken; four sisters: Louise Wilhoit, Reba Fox, Edith Cutshaw and Velma Cutshaw; and three brothers: Elmer Aiken, W.A. Aiken Jr. and Leonard Aiken.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Rocky Johnson will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at noon to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Hubbard, Howard Waddle, Shane Waddle, Jim Cutshaw, Howard Cutshaw, William Cutshaw, Wayne Cutshaw, Jim Britton, Ivan Carter, Dr. William Aiken, Brian Aiken, Jason Ripley, Michael Brobeck, Jason Cutshaw, Tommy Armitage, Sam Haren, Alan Yost, Gordon Miller, Jimmy Sauceman, Bobby Collins, Matthew Wilkerson, and the members of Bethesda CP Church.
