Margaret Erickson, 86, of Stratford, Iowa passed away in the early morning of Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford where she had been a resident.

She was born February 12, 1925, in Stratford, Iowa to Merrill and Opal (Baker) Monson. As a young girl, she attended country school until the 8th grade, when she enrolled at Stratford Community where she met the love of her life, Norman. They were married August 20, 1944 at South Marion United Methodist Church.

Margaret was active in the First Baptist Church and was the pianist and organist for sixty plus years as well as an accompanist for "The Farmers Four Quartet" for 25 years. They sang together for a number of celebrations, funeral, weddings and special occasions.

Her parents and sister, Lois, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Norman; a daughter Marna Brown and husband David of Phoenix, Arizona; a son Doran Erickson and wife Donna of Stratford; 3 granddaughters Jennifer Erickson of Boone, Brianna Erickson of Kamrar, Iowa and Maggie Iddings and husband Brandon of Phoenix, Arizona; 1 great-grandson Kameron Iddings of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother Jim Monson and wife Glenda of Stratford; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford and Hospice of Ft. Dodge for providing Margaret with their special care.

Services will be held on Friday afternoon, January 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Boone, Iowa with Pastor Harold Richardson officiating.

Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa. Following interment, the family would like to extend an invitation to join them at the Athens Woods Estate's Dining Hall in Stratford for a luncheon and fellowship.

Friend may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue at the Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the family.
