E. Clarence Ott, 87, 222 Springs Ave., died at the Warner Hospital, Tuesday afternoon at 2:55 o'clock. He had been in declining health for the last three years, suffering from a heart condition.

A native of Rocky Ridge, Md., he was a son of the late John and Emma (Miller) Ott. He was the husband of Anna E. (Dorsey) Ott, they had married in 1912.

He attended public school at Rocky Ridge and a school for boys at Union Bridge, Md.

For several years he was a salesman in Baltimore, before coming to Gettysburg in 1915, when he became associated with the late Frank E. Peckman, first in the real estate business and then in the auto business. The firm of Peckman and Ott had the agency for both Ford and Cadillac cars and built what was for many years on of the town's leading garages and auto dealer businesses at the present site of the Gettysburg Moose home on York Street.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and at one time was an elder of that church. He was also a member of the Gettysburg Rotary Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are one son, Charles D. Ott of New York City, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. John P. (Janet) Rhoades of Tioga; one grandchild, Janet Frances Ott; and one brother, Charles I. Ott of Washington D.C.

His twin brother, the late Dr. J.W. Ott, who died in May 1954, was a graduate of Gettysburg College and Seminary and was president of the Maryland Synod, for a number of years.

Funeral services Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the Bender Funeral Home, Carlisle Street, with the Rev. Herman G. Stuempfle officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
