Vassar Walton Dacus was the husband of Edna Reola (Barry) Dacus; son of Wilbourne L. Dacus and Helen Tempy (Holloway) Dacus (1853-1932); grandson of Nathaniel G. Dacus and Elizabeth G. (Borroum) Dacus.
From 1913-1914 he was vice president of the Bank of Greenwood. In 1912 when the bank was established, he was on the board of directors.

Greenwood, Miss., Dec. 17—Vassar W. Dacus fell dead Thursday in his home on Strong avenue at 10 o'clock when he suffered a stroke of apoplexy. He was 38 years old and was born and reared near Oxford, in Lafayette county. His wife, six children, a mother and three brothers survive him. Mr. Dacus was a member of the Masonic, W.O.W. and Elks' lodges, and at the time of his death was a member of the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board and the governor's military staff. He had extensive planting interests in this section. The funeral will be held here Saturday afternoon and interment will e made in this city.
