Civil War Confederate Army Officer, Politician. He was a member of Mississippi State House of Representatives in 1859 and colonel in the Rebel Army during the Civil War. He was elected attorney general of Mississippi in 1865 and was removed from office by military authorities. He was then elected Democrat to Congress and served three terms.
