Mrs. Lelia Lois Cooke Ayers, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Ayers was born May 13, 1924, in Stokes County, to the late Martin and Virginia Tilley Cooke. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Tommie and Ronnie Arrington of Mount Airy; a son, Roy Ayers of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special loved one, who was dear to all the family, Marcey Blevins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Clinton Ayers; a daughter, Gaye Bennett; a son, Ricky Dale Ayers, Sr.; two infant children, Mary Fern and Glenda Gail; and several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Woodland Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Slate and the Rev. Randy Money officiating. Bural will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
