Hiram came to Ottawa County, Michigan from Alexandria, Jefferson, New York in the early 1850's. He had married in 1949 in New York and had one child. He and Marie had 12 children and she died a year after the birth of their last child. Around 1879 he married Sarah Draggoo Fetters who was a widow with 5 grown children. She and Hiram had two sons of their own, James and Delbert. He was living in Moorland Township in 1900. He died at the State Hospital in Traverse City, Michigan. His death certificate has his age and birth year off by many years! Sarah went on to marry twice more with both of those husbands dying before her.
