John D. Dykstra, 89, of Maurice, died Monday, May 16 in Heritage House in Orange City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Reformed Church in Maurice with the Rev. Ken Westrate officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery at Maurice under direction of the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mr. Dykstra was born Feb. 12, 1899, in Orange City and attended Orange City Christian School.
He married Gertrude Vander Mei Oct. 21, 1916 in Carnes. The couple lived in the Maurice and Ireton areas. She died Aug. 29, 1968.
Mr. Dykstra was a member of First Reformed Church of Maurice. Survivors include two sons, Henry of Sioux Center and John of Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Mathilda Chambers of Bellflower, Calif., and Gertrude Taylor of Flagstaff, Ariz., 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
