EARLY RESIDENT OF CRETE PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Wm. McOmber, Sr., Who Had Lived Here Since 1883, Answers Final Call.
Mrs. Wm. McOmber, Sr., died at the family home in Crete Tuesday morning after an illness of several weeks. She was an early settler of Crete, having come here with her husband in 1883 and residing here since that time.
Carrie Swobe was born near Johnstown, N.Y., January 19, 1854 and at the age of three moved with her parents to Niles, Mich.
January 18, 1877 she was married to Willaim McOmber, and six years later they came to Crete where Mr. McOmber engaged in the livery business.
Mrs. McOmber is survived by her husband, four children, Mrs. Louise Semler, Dorchester, Willaim, Jr., and Ruth McOmber, Crete, and Isabelle McOmber, Lincoln and several grandchildren.
She was a member of the Congregational church and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday at the Congregational church. The Rev. Harold Cooper will officiate. Interment in Riverside cemetery.
