George Richard "Dick" Jordan (1935 - 2011)
Dick passed suddenly while he and wife Eleanor were with family members in Whitefish, Montana. He was born in Lodi in 1935 to Joseph Miller and Olive Hall Jordan. A Professional Engineer, he'd retired to Lahaina Hawaii in 1989. When not travelling with his wife he could be found at the Masonic Lodge Maui. An avid and gifted story-teller, no matter where Dick was on the globe, you could count on him being in the middle of friends, old and new alike, regaling them with his stories.
Dick is a 1953 graduate of Lodi High School in Lodi, CA and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sacramento State University. He spent most of his career in the power industry working his way up from lineman to control room supervisor for nuclear power plants before retiring as a consultant to numerous power utilities around the globe. He was a veteran of the Army and served in the Far East Headquarters during the Korea War.
His many hobbies included flying, sailing, racing, sports cars, mischief and most recently writing his second book.
First initiated at Lodge Lodi in 1967, Dick was raised Master Mason in 1968. He was a Shriner, a Knight Commander and 33rd Degree Scottish Right Mason, a Templar Knight of the York Right Masons.
Dick is survived by his wife Eleanor, his brother Tom (Liz) of Lodi, CA, his children Jon (Marie), Geoff (Carol), Jennifer (Scott) and his grandchildren Jessica, Christopher, and Katie.
Services for Dick will be held at 11:00 am on March 4th at Lodi Memorial Cemetery, 5750 E Pine St. All that knew Dick are welcome.
