Music was a very happy part of her life. She played several instruments including the piano, organ, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and the ocarina (sweet potato).
On October 12, 1943, she married Claude Spigler in Shelton. They spent 53 years together. They raised three sons.
Mrs. Spigler was employed as a clerk in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for many years before her children were born and after they entered school. She also worked in the classifieds for the Bremerton Sun. Over the last several years, Mrs. Spigler was the Editor of the Canterbury Tales, the newsletter that was distributed at her home in Canterbury Manor.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother always putting her family's needs before her own. She and Claude enjoyed traveling many states and countries with her sisters and niece and many life-long friends. She always maintained a colorful flower garden and was an amazing seamstress, sewing blankets and clothing for her children and grandchildren. She took great pleasure in traveling to different craft shows to share her works.
She is survived by her three sons, one sister, 15 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Claude, her parents Jay and Nina Cheatham, her sisters Helen, Marjorie, Virginia and Lucille, and one great-grandson. Visitation will be May 7 at 1 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., also on May 7 at Miller Woodlawn Chapel.
