JOHN ANDRE, a well known and highly respected resident of Rosiere, in the town of Lincoln, this county, died at the home of his son, Peter J. Andre, at Rosiere last Tuesday, September 18th. Decease was at the time of his death aged 81 years and 21 days. He was born in France and came to America in 1854, first settling at Green Bay and later living for a time at Sturgeon Bay, finally settling at Rosier about the year 1860, since which time he has been a continuous resident of that place. Before moving from France, he was a member of the regular army of that country, and served in Algeria. He was a veteran of the civil war of this country and was a member of the famour "Iron Brigade" having been a member of Co. B 6TH Regt., Wis. Infty. His wife died in 1904. Mr. Andre was well known throughout this section of the state and had the confidence and esteem of a large circle of friends.
He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Peter Andre, of Rosiere and ten children: JOHN & EMANUEL, of Marinette, HENRY & JOSEPH of Green Bay, ISADORA of Algoma, FERDINAND, PETER J. and MRS. DESIRE BRANS, MRS. F. GILSON and MRS. STEVE TLACHAC, of Rosiere.
The funeral which took place yesterday from St. Hubert's Catholic church, at Rosiere, Fr. J. J. Glaudemans officiating, was largely attended.
