GALENA, Ill. - Robert W. Bautsch, 65, of 908 Fourth St., Galena, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Galena. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Galena Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where there will be a scripture wake service at 5 p.m. Mr. Bautsch retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 2001, after 37 years of service. He was born on Feb. 2, 1939, in Dubuque, son of Henry and Florence (Beadle) Bautsch. He spent all his life in the Galena area. He graduated from the former Loras Academy in Dubuque, where he played on the basketball team. He was an Air Force veteran. He married Marilyn Webster, of Cuba City, Wis., on Oct. 12, 1963, in Hazel Green, Wis.; she preceded him in death on May 15, 1983. He was an avid sports fan and a "die-hard" Green Bay Packers fan. He loved spending his spare time with his family and friends at the Bautsch Camp in Aiken.
Surviving are two children, a daughter, Angela (Kurt) Kaiser, of Menominee, and a son, Robert (Beth) Bautsch, of Belvidere; four grandchildren, Casey, Darien, Gavin and Kailyn; two brothers, James (Jean) Bautsch and Kenneth (Rhonda) Bautsch, both of Galena; and two sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Wachter, of Galena, and Karen (Dennis) Carthew, of Portage, Wis. He also was preceded in death by his parents.

GALENA -- Robert W. Bautsch, 65, of Galena died Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. He was born on Feb. 2, 1939 in Dubuque, the son of Henry and Florence (Beadle) Bautsch. He married Marilyn Webster of Cuba City, Wis., on Oct. 12, 1963 in Hazel Green, Wis., and she preceded him in death on May 15, 1983. He spent all of his life in the Galena Area and graduated from the Loras Academy in Dubuque, where he played on the basketball team. He was an avid sports fan and a "die-hard" Green Bay Packer's fan. He loved spending his spare time with his family and friends at the Bautsch Camp in Aiken. He was a US Air Force Veteran. He retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 2001 after 37 years of service. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, where the scripture wake service will be held at 5 p.m.
