Marion Allan Turner, 87, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2004. He was a retired Norfolk and Western Railway law department secretary, and a Piggyback department supervisor for 34 years. He served almost five years in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II as an Air Operations Specialist in the Army Air Corps. He was a longtime member of Windsor Hills Baptist Church.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Dailey Turner of Falls Mills, Va.; a sister, Marguerite Turner of Bluefield, Va.; and a brother, Luther King Turner of Gainesville, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rachel Bowdel Turner; sons, John and wife Margaret Turner, of Lynchburg, Steven Turner of Cloverdale; two daughters, Susan Turner LaBarbera and husband Richard, of Wake Forest, N.C., Donna Turner Clark Sheetz and husband Darrell, of Roanoke; nephew, Tommy Turner of Atlanta; a special sister-in-law, Anna Mae Lucas of Salem; two special friends, Ray Basham of Roanoke and Joe Tibbs of Roanoke; his dearly loved five grandsons, Graham and Logan Turner, Bradley, Andrew, and Matthew LaBarbera of Wake Forest, N.C.

Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004. The Rev. Ron Sutherland will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Windsor Hills Baptist Church.
