TAUNTON – Mary (Rose) Andrade, wife of the late George Andrade, died at Morton Hospital and Medical Center on April 30, 2010. She was 89. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Rose and Mary S. (Almeida) Rose Ferreira, and the stepdaughter of the late Manuel S. Ferreira. Raised and educated in Taunton, she was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Andrade worked as an M.R.A. for the Paul A. Dever School for over twenty years, retiring in 1987, and also worked for the Geilich Tannery for some time. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and was a life member of the VFW Post 611 Ladies Auxiliary. She was happiest when in the company of her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Edward B. Andrade of Taunton; two daughters, Elizabeth Aranjo and her husband Barry of Taunton, and Aurora Medeiros and her husband Keith of Dighton; two grandchildren, Rashelle Hicks of Taunton and Barry Aranjo, Jr. of Norton; four sisters, Constance Bernier and Helen Edgell, both of Taunton, Clara Medeiros of Louisville, Ky., and Caroline Medeiros of Raynham; two stepbrothers, Manuel Ferreira and Jose Ferreira, both of Taunton; two stepsisters, Hilda Charette and Theresa Benoit, both of Dunedin, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Edward R. Andrade and the sister of the late Antonio Rose, Joseph Rose, and Dorothea Mendes. Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday, May 5 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church on Kilmer Avenue in Taunton at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
