She was born May 3, 1919 in Dawson, North Dakota, to Henry Schmierer and Christina Stadel Schmierer. She was raised and attended schools in Satdel, North Dakota and in Ralph, South Dakota. She came to Idaho when she was 14 years old by train.
On January 11, 1937 she married William Justin Grover in Rigby, Idaho; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She lived in the Rigby area most of her life, and ran a farm and dairy along with her husband for many years.
She was an active member of LDS Church and served in the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society organizations. She worked on the Jefferson County Fair Board in the quilt judging and in the election polls as an election judge. She enjoyed quilting and canning.
She is survived by her daughters: Dorothy (Russell) Johnson, of Kimberly, ID, Mary (Roland) Prine, of Arco, ID, Jeannette (Dean) Gunderson, of Rigby, ID; sons: Merlin (Marie) Grover, of Rio Linda, CA, Keith (LaRae) Grover, of Rigby, ID, David (Jan) Grover, of Rigby, ID; a sister, Pauline Zummulen, of Colorado, 38 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Justin Grover, sisters: Bertha and Martha; brothers: Fred, Jake, and Leo; and half-sisters: Esther Fletcher and Lydia Walz.
Funeral sevices will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Rigby 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, (364 N. 4100 E., Rigby) with Bishop Cory Beebe conducting. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
