"In the 1880's , covered wagons brought the family of Jerry Edward Parish and his wife Nancy Jane Deacon from Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Wichita Falls area. The family settled for the first year just north of the Wichita River where the Beverly Street Bridge crosses.
The family eventually moved to the Taylor place in Archer County, wher they lived for thirteen years. During this time, George, Alvin"Pete" and Reuben were born.
Around the turn of the century in the early 1900's, the family moved to the Parish home place in Archer County near the Geraldine townsite. The family ranch eventually expanded to nearly 7,000 acres and at the writing of the history, the family ranch was still owned by Alvin Parish and the descendents of George Parish.
