GASTONIA - Spencer Albright Riddle, 62, died Jan. 29, 2012, at VA Hospital of Durham.
He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned numerous medals including the Silver Star. The Silver Star is awarded for extraor-dinary heroism and valor in action against an enemy of the United States.
He is survived by daughters, Stacy Humphries and Gayla O'Donnell of Rock Hill, S.C.; grandson, Lynken Hager, granddaughters, Kennedy O'Donnell, Jessie Cain and Payton Humphries of Rock Hill, S.C.; sister, Frankie Russell and husband Ron Russell of Durham; brothers, Jerry Riddle and wife Joan Riddle of Gastonia and Ronnie Riddle and wife Vickie Riddle of Lincolnton; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Albright Rockholt
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City.
A graveside service officiated by Rev. Chris Howe will follow at 11 a.m. at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with military rites by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
