Mrs. Powars Dies Suddenly Sunday At Bluffs Home
Mrs. Nannie Elizabeth Powars died suddenly at 1:30 AM Sunday at her home in Bluffs. Mrs. Powars had been in failing health for some time but had not suffered from any immediate serious illness and her death was unexpected. She formerly resided at Jacksonville and prior to that at Palmyra. Mrs. Powars was born in Kentucky August 2, 1869. Her parents preceded her in death during her early childhood. She was married to John Powars who died a number of years ago. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Miss Mae Powars who resides at home: TM Powars of Bluffs and Earl Powars of Decatur. A granddaughter, Phyllis, who is the wife of Dean Hutton of Bluffs and was raised in the Powars home, also survives. There are three great-grandchildren, Michael, Randy and Nancy Hutton of Bluffs. Mrs. Powars leaves one sister, Mrs. Alice Stults of Palmyra. The deceased was a member of the Christian Church of Palmyra. She resided in Bluffs the last nine years.
The body was taken to the Bates Funeral Home at Bluffs and at 10 o'clock Monday morning removed to the Stults Mortuary at Palmyra, where services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM. Rev. LC Taylor will officiate. Burial will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra.
