Ora Gard, 99, passed away peacefully at Newburgh Healthcare March 15, 2006.
She was an active member of the Howell General Baptist Church until her last few
years. She taught Sunday School for many years. Ora loved Jesus Christ as her
personal Savior and enjoyed sharing her testimony of His love with others.
Ora was employed for 19 years in the Boy Scout department at Sater's and also
served as a salesperson in the boys' department. This was an extension of her
passion for scouting, as she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.
Ora is preceded in death by her husband, Russell; parents, Daisy and Phillip
Dossett; son Phillip; daughter Betty Louise; grandson, Larry Gard;
great-granddaughter Missy Brady; twin sister, Eura Ungetheum; sister, Ivil
Tremper; and brother, Earl Dossett.
Ora is survived by two daughters, Alta Gartner and Linda Jackson, both of
Evansville; four sons, Leland (Eula Mae); David (Shirley), Lowell (Candy) all of
Evansville, Ind.; and George (Pam) of New Madrid, Mo.She is also survived by 15
grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, nine
stepgreat-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and
Services at Alexander West Chapel, with Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial
in Bone Gap, Ill.
