Joe Daniel Taylor, 83, of Dresden, died Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden. Graveside services for Mr. Taylor were held Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Michael Simmons and Bro. Dan Leslie officiated the services.
Mr. Taylor was a retired accountant for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and former president of the Dukedom Bank. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Dresden First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Taylor was born in Weakley County to the late John Daniel "J.D." and Katharyne Simmons Taylor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Carney Taylor of Dresden; a daughter, Marie Moss of Holly Springs, North Carolina; a sister, Martha Barker of Humboldt; two grandchildren, Jo Catherine Moss of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jaclyn Parker of Apex, North Carolina; and three great-grandchildren.
