Door County Advocate April 21, 1910
Obituary
Ryan. At Hiles, Wisconsin, April 17, 1910, of pneumonia, Patrick Ryan, aged 52 years, 6 months.

The death of Patrick Ryan in Forest County at an early hour on Sunday morning was a shock to his many friends and relatives here, who had hardly become aware of his illness when his demise was announced.

Mr. Ryan on April 5th while working in the rain, got thoroughly wet, causing him to take a severe cold, which subsequently developed into that dread malady, which terminated his life on the ninth day after taking to his bed.

Deceased was born in Canada October 16, 1857 and came here when 16 years old. Up to five or six years ago this city and county had been his home almost continuously and where he had a host of friends. He leaves to mourn his death a widow and six children, the latter being Mrs. T.A. Egan of this city, Mrs. L. Austin of Appleton, Mazie, Marion, Thomas and Allen; also a brother and sister, Mrs. David Machia and John Ryan.

The remains were brought here from Hiles Monday evening, accompanied by John Ryan and other members of the family and received at the station by delegation from the local Masonic lodge and escorted to the home of Dr. Egan. The funeral took place from the Congregational Church Wednesday morning, Pastor Wallar conducting the services, which were attended by a large number of people. The order of which Mr. Ryan had been a member for more than 30 years, was largely represented and its members had charge of the obsequies, interment being had at Bayside. The pall-bearers were L.H. Erskine, Alex Meikle, H.C. Scofield, John C. Rank, Alex Anderson and Frank Kimber. W.R. Higgins and Willard E. Gaede, assisted by other members of the fraternity, conducted the services at the grave.

The floral offerings were most beautiful and profuse, literally burying the casket and completely filing the apartment in which the remains reposed before interment.
