Elizabeth married the Revolutionary War French Army deserter, Joshua (Michel) Mitchell 0n Dec. 27, 1788 in Fauquier County, Virginia as his 2nd wife, since his first wife Nancy Ross had died about 1787. Elizabeth's surname may actually have been the more common Steger, since no other Stiggards have been found. Elizabeth then bore Joshua 10 children and probably died before he did, since she was not mentioned in his will. A sign in the Comer-Mitchell Cemetery says Joshua died in 1843 which disagrees with his 1847 will.
