Mrs. Floyd (Gwendolyn Fern) Sowers, 44 of Route 2, Toledo, was found dead early Saturday, June 1, 1963, at her home.
Following a coroners inquiry, conducted by Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hiles, death was attributed to cerebral hemorrhage.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Flagg Funeral home in Newton with Rev. Jessie Kindred officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sowers was born June 17, 1918, in Jasper County, a daughter of the late Alfred (Jack) and Viola (Fore)Anderson. She was first married to Delbert Kerner. On Sept. 11, 1957, she married Floyd Sowers, who survives.
Other survivors are sons, James Kerner of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, Marion Michael Kerner at home; daughters, Mrs. Betty Gorrell of Creve Coeur, Mrs. Wanda Portlock of Newton, Mrs. Delores Griffith of Effingham, and Miss Judy Kerner; two stepchildren, Arthur Dale Sowers of Ft. Benning, Ga., and Evelyn Sowers of Effingham; three sisters, Mrs. Horace Wheat and Mrs. Melvin Babbs of Newton, and Mrs. Gladys Nordlander of Chicago; 6 grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
